Sense Rugby:
Helping young people to thrive through rugby

12pm - 12.30pm  |  Tuesday 9 April, 2024  |  Hosted on Zoom

Guest Speaker: Erin Rayner
Facilitator: Donna Smith

Sense Rugby is an Occupational Therapy led rugby programme designed to help tamariki and rangatahi who usually find it difficult to be part of a sports team.  Sense Rugby NZ was established in July 2020 as a charitable trust after recognising that tamariki and rangatahi who live everyday life with disabilities and often “invisible” differences in their social, motor, learning, emotional regulation and communication skills have limited access to high quality and consistent active recreation and sport opportunities.

Erin is an experienced Paediatric Occupational Therapist, who moved home to Aotearoa in 2019. After delivering Sense Rugby groups in Australia for a couple of years and experiencing the joy that engaging in the programme brought to many young people, with the help from Jesse and Carlien (Sense Rugby founders), Erin helped to establish the Sense Rugby (New Zealand) Trust in 2020. One of Erin’s key passions is to bring her love of helping young people through learning, play and movement into the community.
