Amy Hogan
Researcher and Member Support Advisor, The Cerebral Palsy Society
My name is Amy Hogan, and I am based in Auckland, New Zealand. I have 20 years' experience implementing and overseeing national disability research projects as a researcher, analyst, writer, and advocate focusing on health and social justice. I am now seeking to bring my unique combination of personal and professional experience into wider international forums such as policy review, multi-country collaboration, and strategic advocacy objectives.
I live with cerebral palsy (CP) and have, over the past decade, incorporated my day-to-day experience into my work at the Cerebral Palsy Society of New Zealand. I have developed and implemented research, policy, advocacy, and system change initiatives. I have completed my Master's degree (MSc with First Class Honours in Psychology). My thesis analysed the language construction of purported treatments and cures for people living with chronic conditions. I also have significant experience as a lecturer, panellist, keynote speaker and provider of subject-matter expertise. Audiences have included government ministers, senior international academics, policy advisers, community groups, students, and multidisciplinary professional groups.
In 2025, I have assumed several leadership positions within the disability community, both within New Zealand and abroad. These include being a member of the Auckland Council Disability Panel, co-chair of the Australian and New Zealand Cerebral Palsy Strategy, co-chair of Access Matters Aotearoa, and board member of the Australasian Academy of Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine.
