The effect of Occupational Performance Coaching on social participation, health and wellbeing, for caregivers of children with neuro-disability

Presented by Dr Laura Desha and Melanie Scott on behalf of Fiona Graham

➡️ 12pm - 12.30pm | Tuesday 14 October, 2025 | Hosted on Teams

Fiona Graham was the chief investigator for the MANA study. Fi is an occupational therapist who specialises in working with families and children. Her PhD with the University of Queensland examined the effectiveness of coaching parents of children with disabilities to enhance children's success in everyday life. As a part of her PHD, Fi developed Occupational Performance Coaching (OPC).

Two members of Fiona’s research team who were involved from the early days of the MANA study will deliver this presentation on Fiona’s behalf:

Dr Laura Desha, an occupational therapist and academic based in Brisbane, is a research fellow who contributed to writing the study protocol, gaining ethical and locality approvals, data collection, analysis and publication of study findings.

Melanie Scott is a Christchurch-based paediatric occupational therapist, clinical supervisor, and OPC trainer. As a research fellow at the University of Otago for the MANA study, she trained and mentored therapists delivering OPC, supporting implementation through supervision and fidelity monitoring.
