Neurodevelopment Network - Lunch & Learn NZ Series [11 November]

Implications to practice:
The effect of Occupational Performance Coaching on social participation, health and wellbeing, for caregivers of children with neuro-disability

Follow up session with Dr Laura Desha and Melanie Scott

➡️ 12pm - 12.30pm  |  Tuesday 11 November, 2025  |  Hosted on Teams

In this session, Donna Smith will facilitate a knowledge translation session on the implications of last month’s L&L - The effect of Occupational Performance Coaching on social participation, health and wellbeing, for caregivers of children with neuro-disability.

To enhance learning and active participation in the knowledge translation session we invite you to watch last month’s session, where Dr Laura Desha and Melanie Scott presented the findings from Fiona Grahams research - The aim of the MANA study was to compare Occupational Performance Coaching (OPC) to usual care with caregivers of children with neurodisability in improving child, caregiver and family participation, when delivered within existing service delivery contexts in New Zealand, including for Māori.

Three questions to think about ahead of the Knowledge Translation session, which we will collaboratively discuss are:

1. Consider what stood out, surprised you, or felt most relevant to your work.
2. What potential benefits or challenges do you foresee when working with clients?
3. What are your reflections on how fidelity should be measured or monitored in practice?
