The Paediatric Palliative Care Clinical Network invites clinicians to join an upcoming webinar on perinatal palliative care, exploring the care of pēpē and whānau facing life-limiting diagnoses during pregnancy, birth, or the neonatal period.

Presented by Dr Callum Gately, Neonatal Intensive Care Consultant at Wellington Regional Hospital, the session will cover who the families navigating these diagnoses are, how palliative care is integrated within Neonatal Intensive Care settings, and how this care can be delivered across different contexts. Through case discussions, participants will have the opportunity to reflect on practical challenges and explore ways to improve culturally responsive, compassionate care and outcomes for whānau.

Dr Gately graduated from Otago University in 2008 and previously held a consultant role at the Mater Neonatal Critical Care Unit in Brisbane before joining Wellington Hospital in 2021. He brings a particular interest in perinatal palliative care and works alongside a team of nursing champions in this under-resourced area of practice.
