Upcoming Child Protection Training: Assessment of Injuries in Children

2 April 2026

Te Puaruruhau, the Starship Child Protection Team, is offering its annual APAC Workshop on Monday 17 and Tuesday 18 August 2026, held at the Clinical Education Centre, Auckland City Hospital. The course is also available fully online for those who prefer to attend virtually.

This workshop focuses on the assessment of injuries in children where physical abuse is a concern, and is aimed at paediatricians and advanced trainees, as well as practitioners in Emergency Medicine, Surgery, and other specialties where this forms part of clinical responsibilities.

Format

The course includes approximately 35–40 hours of preLearning (eLearning modules and webinars) available from early July, alongside interactive and case-based live sessions. Highlights include "Talking to Families" with live actors and a Reality Court simulation. Recordings and preLearning materials remain accessible to registrants for 12 months after the course.
