The PSNZ Education Fund supports research, knowledge sharing, and better health outcomes for tamariki and rangatahi
One recent recipient, Julie Blamires, used her grant to attend the 2024 PSNZ Annual Scientific Meeting in Ōtepoti, Dunedin, where she presented two research posters and contributed as a judge for the New Investigator and RACP awards.
Julie’s research explored the experiences of siblings of children with long-term conditions and the evidence around asthma care in Aotearoa. These presentations sparked strong interest among conference attendees and highlighted the value of considering multiple perspectives in the context of child health research, including those of children, young people and their whanau, and members of the multi-disciplinary team.
It was an inspiring and energising event. Sharing our current work, hearing from an incredible range of Māori and interdisciplinary speakers, and reconnecting with colleagues from across the motu reminded me of the importance of these events for bridging research and clinical practice. – Julie Blamires
One of Julie’s posters has now been published in the Journal of Pediatric Nursing, and she’s currently preparing a second manuscript.
